Imran Khan Wins Confidence Vote With Flying Colors

There was a fracas and scuffles outside when voting on confidence motion was underway inside the assembly

Prime Minister Imran Khan managed to get confidence vote from the National Assembly (NA) with 178 votes. Khan took two more votes today compared to when he became the prime minister in 2018 (176 votes).

A day prior, Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry had claimed that Imran Khan would get 181 votes.

However, three votes that fell short were of NA Speaker Asad Qaiser, Faisal Vawda, who resigned after getting elected as a senator, and an independent candidate.

Meanwhile, rough scenes were witnessed outside the parliament house amid the session. PTI supporters assembled outside the parliament house to show solidarity with the premier.

As a countereffect, Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leaders also arrived there.

The situation turned tense as there a fracas outside when voting on confidence motion was underway inside the assembly.

The incidents of scuffles between PML-N leaders and PTI supporters were also witnessed inside the Red Zone.

PTI supporters and workers held placards inscribed with anti-opposition slogans while PML-N leaders were addressing the media.

An unidentified suspect hurled a shoe at PML-N’s Ahsan Iqbal while Musadik Malik and ex-prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had a brawl with PTI stalwarts.
