Woman Mars Ex-Husband’s Face With Acid

The ex-wife was forcing Usman to remarry after 9 months of their divorce

On refusing to remarry, a woman threw acid on ex-husband in Karachi and cunningly lodged a complaint against the incident in the police station.

The police officials said that the suspect was a resident of the Nagan area in the metropolis.

The victim, Muhammad Usman, was brought to the Burns Ward of Civil Hospital on Thursday.

The victim’s face and body parts sustained severe burn injuries.

The relatives of Muhammad Usman said that the victim received a call around 3 pm on Thursday after which he went to an apartment near Nagan Chowrangi.

The victim’s ex-wife, Shabana, was also present in the flat, the relatives said.

They claimed that the ex-wife was forcing Usman to remarry after 9 months of their divorce.

Upon refusal, the suspect threw acid on the victim and sustained minor wounds on her body as well due to speckles of acid.

They said that the victim resisted and managed to reach the house of his maternal grandmother in a rickshaw.

From there, he was moved to the Civil Hospital for treatment.

Amid this, the ex-wife reached the New Karachi police station and accused her ex-spouse of throwing acid on her.

In this regard, the Station House Officer (SHO) Nadeem Ahmed said that the initial investigation suggested that the complainant threw acid on Usman and she was trying to mislead the police.

He said that the police are probing into the case but it could not record the statement of the acid victim due to his condition.

SHO said further action would be taken in light of Usman’s statement, adding that Shabana is also being investigated.

He said that Shabana and Usman were office colleagues and they had solemnized a free-will marriage.
