World Bank Places Pakistan First in The World in Climate Action

CCBs refers to the share of financing dedicated to climate change adaptation or mitigation in operations financed by the World Bank

World Bank (WB) has placed Pakistan as the first in climate co-benefits (CCBs) in the world during the fiscal year 2021.

World Bank Country Director for Pakistan Najy Benhassine took to his Twitter and shared the country’s accomplishments.

CCBs refers to the share of financing dedicated to climate change adaptation or mitigation in operations financed by the World Bank.

It means that 44% of Pakistan’s new mainstream development is climate-friendly.

Further, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam gave an interview to Cable News Network (CNN).

He said Pakistan produces less than 1% emissions but it aims to lead the world in clean energy by 2030.

He said extreme weather events were costing billions of dollars in life and property losses to Pakistan every year.

Amin said that Pakistan aims to convert 60% of its energy mix to renewable sources by 2030.
