Is Federal Govt Constructing a Rocky Road For Sindh?

Zardari Lahore Fawad Karachi

For a very long time, the federal and Sindh governments have been serving as the thorn in the flesh for each other and Fawad Chaudhry’s frequent visits to Karachi and Asif Zardari being spotted in Lahore hint at rising political tension between the two.

For the last two weekends, the Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry dwelled in Karachi and making some sensational statements regarding the opposition parties.

Addressing at Karachi Press Club (KPC), Fawad criticized the PPP-led Sindh government and demanded the details of funds released to the provincial government.

The federal government has transferred 1,800 billion rupees to the Sindh government during the past two years to fund the developmental projects in the city.

“Billions of rupees were allocated for Badin and Larkana but no one knows where that money went. The funds provided to Sindh are sent abroad either through boats or fake bank accounts”, Fawad said.

Moreover, the federal minister requested Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmed to inquire the Sindh government to implement Article 140 of the constitution that stands for transfer of powers to the local governments (LGs).

Continuing with the charges of building the castle in the air, Fawad found fault with Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah for being unresponsive in the matter of water supply shortage in Sindh.

In a statement, the minister alleged the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for taking non-democratic steps in its tenure and commented that the province is facing ‘dictatorship’ in name of democracy.

Chaudhry claimed to form a government in the province after the next general elections that will ensure transparency in every sector.

In addition to it, Chaudhry reprimanded Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shahbaz Sharif for failing to make practical decisions.

On the other hand, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that all the opposition parties have mutually agreed for in-house change that would assist in getting rid of the “inefficient” PTI-led government in Punjab.

However, this time Fawad’s visit to Karachi and his statements are signaling that the federal and Sindh governments have come face to face yet again.

Contrastingly to Fawad Chaudhry’s visit to Karachi, former president Asif Ali Zardari was spotted in Lahore for an important visit on Saturday.

Sources claimed that former Punjab governor Zulfiqar Khan Khosa, former MPA Qasim Zia, and several other personalities met the former president to mobilize PPP in Punjab.

Moreover, Zardari was also scheduled for a medical examination during his visit.
