Arrest of Imran Khan will deepen political crisis, Zalmay Khalilzad

I think jailing, executing or killing political leaders in stages is the wrong way to go, set a date for general elections in early June, former US Special Representative for Afghanistan

Zalmay Khalilzad, former US special representative for Afghanistan, called the possible arrest of Imran Khan as a more serious reason for political crisis and proposed to hold national elections in country in early June.

Commenting on the current situation of Pakistan, Zalmay Khalilzad wrote in his tweet that despite having great potential, Pakistan is performing poorly and is far behind its traditional rival India.

“It is time for serious soul-searching, bold thinking, and strategy,” he said. I think jailing, hanging, or killing political leaders step by step is the wrong way to go. The crisis will deepen with the arrest of Imran Khan.

Zalmay Khalilzad said, “I insist on 2 measures, first, to fix a date for national elections in early June to prevent corruption. Second, the leading political parties use this time to correct the mistake and Suggest a specific plan to move the country towards stability, security, and prosperity.

Former US special representative said that whichever party wins election will get the people’s mandate on what to do.
