Robotaxi by Amazon Zoox Spotted in San Francisco
The electronic self-driven robotaxi was spotted on the streets being filmed
The first self-driving electric robotaxi, announced earlier by Zoox, a company owned by retail giant Amazon, was spotted in San Francisco. A photoshoot was being carried out of the self-driven vehicle.
The car will have bus-like doors on the side and in the middle. Passengers will be seated facing each other, and there’s no driver’s seat, as there is no driver.
Passengers will be able to get in and out of the car with ease.
The self-driving car is symmetrical and has no front or rear. It can move in both directions equally well.
Furthermore, the car can carry up to four passengers but only two people will be riding it at a time.
Zoox’s latest creation is a “bi-directional” build, it does not have an accelerator, brake pedals nor a steering wheel.
Passengers can use this robotaxi for traveling around cities, starting with San Francisco and Las Vegas.
The unique feature of this robotaxi by Zoox owned by Amazon is the Lidars that are located at the corners, one horizontal and one tilted down.
Unlike other vehicles, they are on mounts sticking out of the car and give them a slightly better view and the ability to even see the sides of the vehicle itself with no blind spots.
These Lidars can scan nearby pedestrians and passengers.

Earlier, the state did not allow companies to use these kinds of vehicles for commercial ride-hailing.
However, the good news is that California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) approved programs for such self-driven commercial vehicles and now they can be used commercially.
“Our mission-a ground-up robotaxi, moving people, ride-hailing-is absolutely intact,” said Zoox CEO Aicha Evans to Forbes.
She revealed that the real vehicle will likely be seen by next month, claiming that the car will be “driving in autonomy, performing maneuvers.”
