WEB DESK: China successfully sent the world’s first 6G test satellite with terahertz communications technology into orbit.
The satellite was launched into orbit from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center on November 6.
The first 6G test satellite was among 13 satellites on a single carrier rocket named Long-March-6. It carries a terahertz communications payload developed independently by China.
Terahertz is a kind of electromagnetic wave with a frequency range between microwave and infrared.
Therefore, it will carry out terahertz communications tests in space to check the high-speed technology of 6G test satellite. It is expected that the speed of 6G test satellite would be over 1,000 times faster than 5G.
The 6G test satellite aims to verify the performance of data transmission on different applications. Therefore, hey include smart city, environmental protection, and disaster prevention as well as monitoring of fire forests.
