Pakistan will be marked as the first country in the region to employ drones for the surveillance of motorways and highways.
National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) has decided to utilize drone cameras to make the facility of highways safe and protected.
These drones will also assist the police department to keep an eye on the motorist up to six kilometers (KMS) to ensure that the traffic rules are followed.
After the incident of sexual violence against a woman on the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway in September 2020, the government has finally proved its responsibility.
Through aerial surveillance, the problems of the motorists will be resolved in real-time.
In this regard, Engineer Asif Hayat announced the achievement on Twitter.
In a first, Pakistan Motorway Police to employ drones to supervise highways and motorways, in the Region. Pakistan will be the first country in the region to employ drone technology for the supervision of the CPEC highway and motorways network.

Moreover, the surrounding areas along the highways would be monitored while effective and timely interception of crimes will be made possible.

NHMP officials said that the drone cameras would be launched after the completion of the trial period whereas aerial surveillance will also help to maintain the traffic flow during protests and rallies in the concerned cities.
