The founder of Tesla, SpaceX, and now the richest man in the world Elon Musk recommended his followers to use ‘signal’ in his tweet on the micro-blogging site Twitter after WhatsApp privacy policy changed.
Use Signal
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) January 7, 2021
The Facebook-owned app, WhatsApp, will force all users to agree to the new policy by February 8 or else lose access to their messages and contacts which was not received positively by WhatsApp users.
Elon Musk saw how this new policy introduced by WhatsApp was not welcomed by the end users and took this opportunity to promote ‘Signal’ which is an Encrypted messaging app.
In the year 2018, Musk deleted the Facebook pages for his companies and stated that he doesn’t like the particular social media platform. The new privacy policy of WhatsApp gave Musk another chance to take a jibe at the social media giant.
The signal is an instant messaging application like WhatsApp or Telegram, which uses extreme encryption to protect the communications and data of its users.
It allows one to one or group messages that can include files, voice notes, videos, images, voice calls, and video calls. The app was created by the Signal Foundation and Signal Messenger LLC.
Signal Foundation was formed in 2018 by Moxie Marlinspike and WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton.
Signal has reportedly seen a surge in signups after a recent WhatsApp popup informed users of the new privacy rules.
The new rules apply to all users but people outside the UK and the EU will also need to agree to more data sharing with Facebook.

If affected users don’t accept the new privacy terms, they’ll lose access to their WhatsApp account from February 8.
The personal data that some users will have to agree to share with the tech giant include their phone numbers.
Signal is deemed to be the most secure digital communication method in the open market.
