ISPR & IT Ministry Join Hands to Boost Animation Industry
Animation has been a very recent phenomenon in Pakistan and the country’s animation industry still has a long way to go

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media and public relations wing of Pakistan Armed Forces, and the Ministry of Information Technology (IT) have joined hands for the development and promotion of the country’s animation industry.
The ceremony that took place at ISPR’s headquarters in Rawalpindi, was attended by the Federal Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunication Syed Aminul Haque, Secretary IT and Telecom Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, and DG ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar.
The global animation industry has reached a market size of around $270 billion and has been expected to swell to $415 billion by 2025.
However, the industry in Pakistan is immature despite four prominent animated films released in recent years including Tick Tock, Allahyar and the Legend of Markhor, 3 Bahadur, and Donkey King.
Animation has been a very recent phenomenon in Pakistan and the country’s animation industry still has a long way to go to be considered a hub for animated content.
The talented animators in Pakistan have long been selling their skills abroad mainly in Hollywood.

With the success of Donkey King, Commander Safeguard, and other animated movies, it can be said that Pakistan has the potential for a fully-bloomed animation industry.
The development in the industry can be a significant contribution to the economy with generation of jobs and revenue.
The recent collaboration between ISPR and the IT Ministry has been done to develop and prosper the animation industry.
It also includes a plan to enable potential entrepreneurs in the sector.
Whereas, short courses on animated gaming and designing will also be introduced.
In December last year, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry expressed his delight in a tweet regarding his meet up with the best game players and animators in Pakistan.
