The problem started around 5:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, with issues popping up across Facebook proper, and Facebook-owned sites, Messenger and Instagram
Mark Zuckerberg’s empire seems to be trembling as all Facebook-owned apps were down for billions of users the second time in a span of a month just a few days after leakage of data of around 500 million Facebook users.
The outage was a major one as the websites for WhatsApp and Instagram along with Facebook were also inaccessible.
As per details by Downdetector.com, the problems started around 5:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, with issues popping up across Facebook proper, and Facebook-owned sites, Messenger, and Instagram around the world.
Nearly after 30 minutes, Facebook and Instagram appeared coming back for most of the users around the world.
Facebook official handle stated, “Earlier today a configuration change caused Facebook services to be unavailable to some people. Since then, we have quickly investigated and resolved the issue”.

Earlier on March 19, an outage took down Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and other services for several hours before recovering.
During the downtime, more than 100,000 users reported issues with Instagram and around 24,000 users reported issues with Whatsapp on DownDetector.

These two instances aren’t the only blip, the services went down back in December 2020 too.
Not only this, just a few days back, a massive trove of Facebook data was leaked to the public by an anonymous leaker.
Information of roughly 533 million Facebook users was made available for free including profile names, email addresses, and phone numbers.
