Moon Sighting App Active For Android & iPhone Users: Fawad

The app will assist to monitor the movement, direction, and size of the moon and put an end to prolong controversy

Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry along with assistance of Ruet-e-Hilal Committee (RHC) Chairman launched iOS version of moon-sighting mobile application The Reut after android variant.  

The application will assist in monitoring the movement, direction, and size of the moon correctly and consult the Islamic calendar.

It has been developed to cease controversy over moon sighting that has existed in Pakistan for years.

Previously, the federal minister tweeted that the holy month of Ramzan will commence from April 14 in Pakistan.

The announcement prior to the RHC meeting sparked outrage in religious circles.

To offset the effect, Fawad clarified official announcement for holy month of Ramzan will be made by the committee.

He added that with the use of science and technology, the decision-making process will become more credible without any religious conflict.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Chaudhry announced that the moon sighting application is available on the Google Play Store for Android users and iPhone users can have access to it on App Store.

RHC chairman Moulana Abdul Khabir Azad hailed the efforts of the science minister who breathed a new life into a ministry that had long been ignored.

RHC’s new chairperson was designated by the federal government in December last year, replacing Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman.

So far, more than 70,000 people have downloaded the moon sighting application The Reut.
