In a recent report from Wall Street Journal, the ongoing ‘privacy battle’ between the CEOs of two giant companies Facebook and Apple continues as Tim Cook revealed a new privacy policy for iPhone operating system (iOS) users.
Apple has decided to upgrade iOS services for its customers.
The tech giant said the users will be given the rights to give ad permissions to the company collecting the data.
We believe users should have the choice over the data that is being collected about them and how it’s used. Facebook can continue to track users across apps and websites as before, App Tracking Transparency in iOS 14 will just require that they ask for your permission first. pic.twitter.com/UnnAONZ61I

The main source of revenue for Facebook is derived from the advertisements.
Thereby, the changes in the privacy policy by Apple will negatively impact the revenue of Facebook.
In 2018, Apple CEO Tim Cook quoted in an interview that he wouldn’t be in Mark Zuckerberg’s position as Facebook experienced criticism over data practices.

Responding to it, Zuckerberg said to his employees “We need to inflict pain,” while considering Cook’s comments as “extremely glib” and “not aligned with the truth.”
The tensions between the giants are not something new in the market. Back in 2014, Cook had even reprimanded Facebook’s business model.
With the recent changes in the iOS privacy policy by Cook, Facebook is concerned about the damage this could inflict on its ads sales and developers in general.
According to Facebook, the privacy battle is not about two companies but the future of free internet whereas Apple believes it’s about privacy and profit.
