Staff Working From Home Saved Google Over $1 Billion

With the arrival of an unexplored covid-19 pandemic last year, affecting millions of people globally, Google as a company remained ahead in providing the world’s best quality office facilities by allowing its employees to work from home and saved $1 billion.

Apart from Google, many other tech giants adapted some flexibility in their work mode owing to the spread of the virus.

Besides shutting the company for a year, Google was able to save $1 billion that was mainly spent on traveling, promotions, and entertainment purposes.

Bloomberg report said, “The parent company of Google, Alphabet saved @268 million in expenses primarily as a result of lockdown compared to the same period a year earlier”.

Further, the analysis of the report explained how $1.4 billion was saved because of the decline in advertising and promotional expenses in 2020.

The campaigns were either paused or rescheduled and some of them virtually presented became a core reason behind maintaining the cost.

Adding to the details, the Bloomberg report claimed that some $371 million were saved as the expenses related to entertainment and travel were minimized.

Although Google CEO Sundar Pichai shared the company’s plan to permit their employees to continue the policy of work from home and it has been extended till September 2021 amid the pandemic situation.

Pichai in his email said, “The unpredictability due to the pandemic has created some interesting challenges and opportunities for us as we start to bring Googlers back to the office”.

He added, “We are going to lean into them and experiment with a series of pilot designs to improve productivity, collaboration, and overall wellbeing”.

Unlike Facebook and Twitter, Pichai was not ready about complete work from home job made but the decision has proved to be a blessing in disguise.
