“Users won’t be able to read or send messages from the app”. The Facebook-owned messaging platform WhatsApp announced to roll out its new privacy policy that received huge flak globally and now the platform has explained the details for users not accepting the policy.

Starting from May 15, the WhatsApp privacy policy has landed the messaging app in controversy.

With a lot of confusion and misunderstandings circulating globally, the app has thrown light on what’s going to happen with users not accepting it.

The company has maintained that the functionality will become limited for the users and they will no longer be able to send or receive messages.

However, receiving calls and notifications will be possible but only for a brief-time-period.

“For a short time, you’ll be able to receive calls and notifications, but won’t be able to read or send messages from the app,” the company maintained.

Initially, the company announced to roll out the new policy on January 8 but later pushed it back due to global disapproval.

WhatsApp made it clear for the users that update in the privacy policy is meant for business and would not affect the users’ communication with friends or family.

Nothing comes between you and your privacy. Messaging with a business is optional, and their chats are clearly labeled on the app. You are in control.

Meanwhile, the app is also going to add some new features to help users understand the updated policy.

The company has also announced that it won’t be deleting accounts of those not complying with the policy till May 15.

However, the company clarified that the accounts being inactive for 120 days would get deleted as routine practice.
