WhatsApp ‘View Once’ Feature Makes Messaging More Personal

The feature is currently available for Android users only who will be able to send the disappearing photos and videos by simply selecting them from the phone’s gallery

WhatsApp rolled out its new ‘View Once’, a disappearing photos and videos feature for beta users, which is similar to Instagram’s expiring media option and enables the users to make the chat more private.

The feature is currently available for Android users only who will be able to send the disappearing photos and videos by simply selecting them from the phone’s gallery.

A user can simply tap on the click icon once the videos, photos, and GIFs are selected.

“Photos and videos sent using this mode can only be viewed once, and they disappear from the chat after you dismiss the photo or the video”, WABetainfo explained.

The sender will be notified once the viewer opens the content and the media will disappear once the receiver shuts it.

If the media is shared in a group then the sender will be able to see when other participants are viewing the image or video even if the read receipts are disabled.

However, the recipients can save the content with screenshots or recording options because there isn’t a detection for this.

Not only this, the blocked contacts in the groups will also have access to the shared media.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp users without the View Once feature can only receive photos and videos.
