Forced labor remains one of the most prevalent and reported purposes for which human trafficking takes place around the globe. One of Pakistan’s media moguls Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman has been accused of human trafficking by Rehana Bibi, a woman who was forced to labor in Virginia for five years.
As per a report published in Washington Post, Rehana Bibi, 46, filed a lawsuit against a Pakistani family residing in Virginia along with Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman.
The lady accused the owner of the Jang group Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman of human trafficking as according to her, Mir Shakeel had arranged employment for her.
However, when contacted by Washington Post, the founder of the media conglomerate maintained silence in this regard.
Rehani Bibi shared heart-wrenching details while elaborating on her nature of work and how she was forced to labor.
“I have not seen anybody in my life, not even in Pakistan, treat anyone like that”, the worker expressed.
As per the details in Washington Post, the lady was pushed to work day and night without any basic facilities that burgeon suicidal thoughts in the lady.
“I told my husband if I stay any longer, my dead body is going to come out”, she recalled her depression.
Bibi took care of the household, she cooked, cleaned, and cared for three children along with the responsibility of an elderly lady.
“I was told to take shower only once a week to reduce wastage of hot water and wasn’t allowed to have meat in my meals”.

Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman who was recently jailed for land raving with politics has been accused by the lady as a human trafficker.
On many occasions, Jang group-owned media channel Geo TV has shown the victims of forced labor and became the voice for them.
However, for Rehana Bibi, the media mogul chose to maintain silence.
