Skewed Journalists in Pakistan Through Eyes of a Youth

“There are PPP’s journalists, PMLN’s journalists, and then there are the ones supporting Imran Khan and security establishment in every right and wrong”, maintained Naimat Khan, an Arab News correspondent and former Joint Secretary Karachi Press Club (KPC).

While reflecting his opinion on biased journalism in Pakistan, the newsman asserted that journalists in the country have political affiliations who practice dishonesty and support bias in their profession.

The issue that is of the most concern in the country right now is biased in political reporting.

Reporting needs to be balanced and just, however, in Pakistan, bias journalists and media-persons show comprehensible predilection towards preferred political parties.

“A number of very talented and experienced media workers seems skewed and act like different political parties’ workers”, Naimat Khan added while talking to News360.

Government has the power in any state hence remains accountable in front of media houses and journalists, however, the professionals shouldn’t ignore the opposition parties, when liable.

“Journalists criticize more on government but a balance is needed between government and opposition parties”, he added.

The Arab News journalist further elaborates that the ones expressive on social media or social activists writing part-time opinion pieces do not belong to journalism.

“There has been a need to set certain standards for journalists in Pakistan, every other person belonging to a media house cannot be a journalist”, the media-man added.
