Afghan Women Football Team Takes Refuge in Pakistan

After the setup of the Taliban government in Afghanistan and its declaration as an Islamic Emirate, the women football team players migrated from their homeland and reached Pakistan.

The migration took place after the new rules announced by the Taliban for Afghani women.

As per details shared by Assistant Commissioner (AC) Akbar Iftikhar, women football team players reached Torkham border with their families.

He also informed that a total of 115 Afghan refugees including women players and their families have entered Pakistan for humanitarian refuge.

To welcome women football players with their families, an official of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Nauman Nadeem was present at Torkham.

AC Akbar Iftikhar said that the team members will be traveling to Peshawar under strict security.

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry also welcomed the refugees and shared a tweet.

Notably, it has not yet been revealed that the team members will stay in Pakistan or move to any other state.
