Amid Covid, ICC Hosts Virtual Trophy Tour For T20 World Cup

Adapting the covid changes, International Cricket Council (ICC) initiated the global virtual tour of the T20 World Cup trophy and West Indies star player Carlos Braithwaite inaugurated it by reciting a poem.

Considering the pandemic situation, sports practices have drastically changed around the world, prioritizing safety to curb the spread of the infectious virus.

Traditionally, ICC used to send the trophy to the participating countries beforehand but it will be done virtually this time.

Carlos Brathwaite, who etched his name into T20 history after his heroics in the 2016 T20 World Cup final against England, recited a poem written by Birmingham Poet Laureate Casey Bailey.

The official account of the ICC T20 World Cup reached out to its Twitter handle to share the player’s performance.

Moreover, ICC officials say that due to a rapid increase in positive cases around the world, the traditional tour of the T20 World Cup trophy in different countries was impossible.

Finding a way out, the management opted for a virtual tour and cricket fans from all over the world have been requested to join it through their social media handles as it happens.

As per schedule, the ICC T20 World Cup will commence on October 17 this year in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
