Claire Antonia Polosak, an Australian cricket umpire marked the history and became the first female umpire in a men’s cricket test match.
Claire, the 32-year-old, has already earned the first woman on-field umpire in a men’s ODI match in 2019.
The female umpire for the first time in 144-year history has taken over as the fourth umpire in the on-going test match between Australia and India.

According to the rules by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the fourth umpire is appointed by the home cricket board and the duties include bringing on the new ball, carrying drinks for on-field umpires, pitch observation, and making sure of zero interference during breaks.
Claire Polosak kicked off her International umpiring career in 2015. She was given responsibilities in the Women’s T20 Qualifying Tournament in Thailand where she umpired in eight matches including the final.
Polosak officiated in 17 women’s ODIs, with an additional three as a third umpire and 33 women’s T20s.
Claire also stood in an Australian men’s domestic fixture in 2017 during the JLT cup.
She was also an on-field umpire with Elvis Sheridan in the match between the Adelaide Strikers of the Big Bash and the Melbourne Stars in 2018.

Claire and Sheridan became the first women to umpire together in a match.
According to the reports, Claire Polosak, the first female umpire, is also a member of Cricket Australia’s Supplementary Umpiring Panel and the ICC’s Development Panel.
