Despite excellent performance of Amir and Imad, Karachi faces defeat by Peshawar

Chasing Peshawar Zalmi's target of 198 runs, Karachi Kings managed to score 173 runs for loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs and lost their fifth match by 24 runs

In 17th match of PSL 8, despite the excellent performance of Mohammad Amir and captain Imad Wasim, Karachi Kings faced defeat at the hands of Peshawar Zalmi.

Chasing Peshawar Zalmi’s target of 198 runs, the Karachi Kings managed to score 173 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted overs and lost their fifth match by 24 runs.

After winning the toss from Karachi Kings captain Imad Wasim, fast bowler Muhammad Amir made the first fielding decision correct and showed the way to the pavilion by LBWing Mohammad Haris and captain Babar Azam for zero in the first over.

Mohammad Amir also dismissed Saeem Ayub in his second over. Thus Peshawar Zalmi lost three players for just 2 runs. However, coming later Tom Kohlerkede Moore, Haseebullah Khan and Rowman Powell scored 56, 50 and 64 runs respectively. By playing an innings, Peshawar took out Zalmi with difficulty.

Thus, Peshawar Zalmi scored 197 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the scheduled overs and gave Karachi Kings a target of 198 runs to win. Mohammad Amir took 4 wickets and Tabriz Shamsi took one wicket for Karachi.

In pursuit of Peshawar’s target of 198 runs, Karachi Kings started the innings steadily and the first wicket fell for a total of 40 runs, after which Tayyab Tahir, Irfan Khan and Shoaib Malik scored 6, 4 and 1 runs respectively to loot the pavilion. Matthew Wade was bowled after scoring 53 runs. After that, captain Imad Wasim played an aggressive innings but could not win the team.

The Kings team scored 173 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs and were defeated by 24 runs. Imad Wasim scored 57 runs not out, Peshawar’s Azmatullah Umarzai and Aamir Jamal took 3 wickets each. Rowman Powell of Peshawar Zalmi was declared the player of the match.

Karachi team has faced failure in 5 out of 7 matches so far. In PSL 8, Lahore Qalandars are first after playing 5 matches, while Multan Sultans are second, Islamabad third, Peshawar Zalmi fourth, Karachi Kings fifth and Quetta sixth.
