Fawad Alam Ton In New Zealand Brings Joy & Records

The fans had argued exclusion of Fawad Alam from Pakistan’s test team when he scored piles of runs in the domestic season

Fawad Alam scored a long-awaited ton and second of his test career in the first test against New Zealand at Bay Oval after the last he scored was in 2009 and bagged some unique records.

The ton by Fawad Alam was looked-for by the Pakistani cricket fans and a testament for this was the left-handed batsman became a top trend in Pakistan on Twitter as he achieved the milestone.

The left-handed batsman was kept away from the team for a long time even after former skipper Misbah-ul-Haq took over as the head coach and chief selector of the national cricket team.

The fans had argued exclusion of Fawad Alam from Pakistan’s test team when he scored piles of runs in the domestic season.

For consecutive years, Fawad Alam either remained a top scorer in the national domestic test championship, Quaid-e-Azam Trophy or stayed in the top five.

Despite that, the plight of the batsman continued and he was not selected in the team but so his resilience.

His mammoth batting average and crucial innings could not convince Misbah-ul-Haq until the left-hander was called back to the test team in series against England this year.

The left-handed batsman certainly proved his selection right after he failed to put a big score in England and critics started raising questions over his selection.

However, with a ton in the second innings in the first test match against New Zealand, while chasing 373 runs, Fawad Alam not only shut doors of criticism on him but he bagged some unique records too.

  • He has become the first Pakistani batsman to score a century in the fourth inning of a test march.
