Reason behind PFF’s suspension
FIFA had appointed Haroon Malik as the new chairman of Pakistan Football Federation Normalization Committee (NC) in January this year.
In March, PFF headquarters situated in Lahore was taken over by a group of officials headed by ex-PFF President Ashfaq Hussain Shah.
In response to third-party interference, the global football body decided to freeze PFF’s membership as the move was a serious violation of FIFA statutes.
Terming this takeover as illegal, FIFA set an ultimatum that the committee should hand over PFF control by March 31 and otherwise warned to ban had warned the local federation of suspension.
On the other hand, Ashfaq group ignored the deadline and continued working at PFF headquarters which ultimately resulted in suspension of PFF.
So far, the suspension will perdure until Ashfaq-group doesn’t hand over PFF’s matters to NC.
