Female Umpire Creates History in Wimbledon’s Final

Making it a historic first, Marija Cicak became the first female umpire to officiate a men’s singles final in Wimbledon on Sunday.

Marija Cicak umpired the final between 19-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic and first-time Grand Slam finalist Matteo Berrettini first time in Wimbledon’s 144 years history.

The 43-year-old umpire has worked at 15 consecutive Wimbledon Championships and the 10-year-end WTA Finals.

Cicak was also the chair umpire at the 2014 Wimbledon’s women’s final and the women’s doubles final three years later.

Not only this, the lady has also officiated the women’s singles gold medal match at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

Cicak’s achievement brought her widespread applause on social media and the fans are sending her wishes.
