HBL PSL 8: battle for survival, Gladiators defeat Zalmis by chasing record target of 241

In the battle for survival in PSL 8, Quetta Gladiators created history by crossing the highest target of 241 runs against Peshawar Zalmi.

In the 25th match of PSL 8 played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam won the toss and decided to bat first.

Babar Azam and Saeem Ayub gave Peshawar Zalmi a brilliant start of 162 runs. Saeem Ayub got out after playing a smoky innings of 74 runs off 34 balls with the help of 5 sixes and 6 fours.

Babar Azam scored his first PSL century off 60 balls and was run out for 115 runs with the help of 3 sixes and 15 fours. Rowman Powell remained not out on 35 and Tom Koehler Cadmore scored 7 runs.

Peshawar Zalmi scored 240 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, while the only wicket from Quetta’s side fell to Devine Protoris.

In pursuit of Peshawar Zalmi’s target of 241 runs, Martin Guptill and Jason Roy started the innings on behalf of Quetta Gladiators and took an aggressive approach at the beginning of the innings. He failed to play a big innings and got out after scoring 26 runs.

However, Jason Roy’s bat continued to pour runs and he continued to rain fours and sixes. Jason Roy completed his second PSL century in 44 balls while he scored 5 sixes and 20 fours in a total of 63 balls. He remained unbeaten by scoring 145 runs.

Mohammad Hafeez also played an innings of 41 runs off 18 balls and thus Quetta achieved the target of 241 runs in the 19th over with the loss of only two wickets which is the biggest target in the history of PSL. .

It should be noted that the target of 241 runs achieved by Quetta Gladiators is the record of PSL so far. Earlier last year Multan Sultans achieved the target of 207 runs given by Lahore Qalandars.

Meanwhile, many records were also set in the match between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi, including Jason Roy’s innings of 145 runs, which is the highest individual score in PSL so far. Similarly, in this match in any T20 league. A record of 75 boundaries was also established.
