HBL PSL 8: Faheem Ashraf changes history, Islamabad United beats Multan Sultans

Islamabad United achieved target of 206 runs with loss of 8 wickets on last ball, Faheem Ashraf made a new PSL record by scoring 18 runs off 5 balls of last over and scored 51 runs off 26 balls, declared best player of the mat

In the Pakistan Super League, Faheem Ashraf’s storming innings changed history. In the 24th match of the tournament, Islamabad United defeated Multan Sultan by 24 runs.

Islamabad United achieved the target of 206 runs with the loss of 8 wickets on the last ball.

In the match played in Rawalpindi, Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan invited Multan to bat after winning the toss. Multan Sultans started the innings confidently and scored 57 runs in the first wicket partnership, after which Mohammad Rizwan was out on an individual score of 33.

After which Riley Russo also returned to the pavilion after scoring 15 runs. Thanks to the brilliant batting of Shaun Masood and Tim David, the Multan team scored 205 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Shaun Masood scored 75 runs and Tim David scored 60 runs. From Islamabad, Shadab Khan and Mohammad Wasim took 2, 2 while Faheem Ashraf took one wicket.

Chasing the target of 206 runs, Islamabad got off to a disappointing start and Alex Hales was dismissed for one run, after which Rahmanullah Garbaz scored 25 runs and Munro returned to the pavilion with 40 runs. Azam Khan was also caught out by adding 3 runs to the score. However, captain Shadab batted responsibly, but he too was bowled for 44 runs. Asif Ali also got out with 8, Mubasher Khan 5 and Muhammad Wasim 16 runs.

Faheem Ashraf continued to resist against the bowlers of Multan. Thanks to Faheem Ashraf’s unbeaten innings of 51 runs off 26 balls, Islamabad United achieved the target of 206 runs for the loss of 8 wickets on the 5th ball of the last over and Multan Sultans were 2 wickets down.

Multan’s Anwar Ali dismissed 3, Ehsanullah and Osama Mir 2 and 2 respectively. Faheem Ashraf was adjudged player of the match for his brilliant batting.

Islamabad United also set a new PSL record while chasing Multan Sultans’ target of 206 runs. Islamabad United’s team became the first team to score 18 runs in the last over of PSL.
