HBL PSL 8: Lineup of teams for playoff stage complete

Lahore Qalandars at first, Multan Sultans second, Islamabad United third and Peshawar Zalmi at fourth positions, Lahore and Multan will compete in qualifiers on Wednesday

After 2 matches played on Sunday in PSL 8, the lineup of teams for the play-off stage has been completed.

Lahore Qalandars is first with 14 points after winning 7 out of 10 matches, Multan Sultans are second with 12 points after winning 6 out of 10 matches, Islamabad United is also third on the basis of run rate after winning 6 out of 10 matches while Peshawar Zalmi is 10. After winning 5 matches, they are in the fourth position with 10 points.

In the playoff stage, a qualifier match between Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans will be played on Wednesday, March 15, the winner of which will directly enter the final.

Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi teams will compete in the first eliminator on Thursday, March 16. The losing team will be eliminated from the event, while the winning team will play a match against the losing team in the second eliminator on March 17. The winning team of this match will reach the final.

The final of HBL PSL Season 8 will be played on March 19 at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore. In the last match before the play-off stage of PSL 8, Karachi Kings easily defeated Lahore Qalandars by 86 runs.

In the match played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Karachi Kings won the toss and decided to bat first. Mohammad Akhlaq of Karachi Kings played brilliant innings of 51 runs in his debut match in PSL 8.

Captain Imad Wasim scored 45 runs and Tayyab Tahir scored 40 runs. The Karachi team scored 196 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Haris Rauf, Zaman Khan and Hussain Talat took two wickets each while Dilbar Hussain took one wicket for Lahore Qalandars.

Chasing the target of 197 runs, the team of Lahore Qalandars piled up by scoring 110 runs in the 19th over. Hussain Talat scored 25, Haris Rauf 18 and Fakhar Zaman 13 runs on behalf of Lahore Qalandars. Imad Wasim of Karachi Kings, Akif Javed, Muhammad Umar and Imran Tahir took two wickets each while James Fuller got one wicket. Mohammad Akhlaq of Karachi Kings was declared the best player of the match.
