HBL PSL 8: In 12th Match of Mega Event, Islamabad United defeats Peshawar Zalmi by 6 wickets

On behalf of Islamabad United, Rehmanullah Garbaz scored 62 runs from 31 balls with 7 fours and 4 sixes

In the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 8 twelfth match, Islamabad United dusted Peshawar Zalmi in the 15th over thanks to Rahmanullah Garbaz’s fastest fifty. Islamabad United achieved the required target at the loss of 4 wickets.

In the match played at Karachi’s National Bank Cricket Arena, Peshawar Zalmi had given Islamabad United a target of 157 runs to win.

In response, Islamabad United made Peshawar Zalmi 5 overs away from defeat thanks to the brilliant 62 runs of opening batsman Rehmanullah Garbaz.

Rahmanullah Garbaz and Colin Munro opened the innings for Islamabad United, but United’s first wicket fell for just 9 runs. Despite the loss of Colin Munro, the opening batsman Garbaz provided the team with a brilliant stand.

He scored 62 runs at an average of 200 off 31 balls, including 7 fours and 4 sixes. Usman Qadir dismissed him.

Other prominent batsmen were Reus van Der and Asif Ali who scored 42 and 29 runs respectively.

Rahmanullah Garbaz’s wicket fell in the 13th over, but at this point Islamabad United needed 17 runs off 42 balls. Rassi van der Dusen played a brilliant batting and scored 42 runs in just 29 balls with six fours.

On behalf of Zalmi, Usman Qadir, Arshad Iqbal and James Neesham could get one wicket each.

Batting first, Peshawar Zalmi managed to score only 156 for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs despite their captain Babar Azam’s brilliant innings of 75 runs and Mohammad Haris’ 41 runs.

Team Zalmi’s opening pair got off to a flying start against United and added 76 runs in just seven overs. Shadab Khan dismissed Haris Rauf on the last ball of his over. He scored 41 runs off just 20 balls with the help of 4 fours and a six.

On behalf of Islamabad United, Hasan Ali dismissed 3 players by giving 35 runs, while Shadab Khan, Roman Raees, Faheem Ashraf and Mubaser guided one player to the pavilion.
