HBP PSL 8: Multan Sultans knocks out Karachi Kings in a nail biter

In the 11th match of Pakistan Super League Season 8, Multan Sultans defeated Karachi Kings by 3 runs after a thrilling match.

In pursuit of Multan’s target of 197 runs, the Karachi Kings team managed to score 193 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

In the match played in Multan, Karachi Kings won the toss and invited Multan Sultans to bat. Multan Sultans captain Mohammad Rizwan scored a brilliant century. Rizwan remained not out after scoring 110 runs off 64 balls with the help of 4 sixes and 10 fours. Shaun Masood scored 51 runs and Riley Russo scored 29 runs.

Multan Sultans scored 196 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the allotted overs, and Mohammad Umar and Shoaib Malik took one wicket each for Karachi.

Chasing the target of 197 runs, Karachi Kings started the innings brilliantly, James Vince and Matthew Wade scored 72 runs in the first wicket partnership. Matthew Wade was dismissed for 20 runs, and James Vince played brilliant innings of 75 runs but unfortunately got run out.

After the openers, except for Imad Wasim, none of Karachi’s batsmen could play well. Haider Ali 12 and Shoaib Malik were caught out for 13 runs. Captain Imad Wasim and Ben Cutting resisted the Sultans bowler but Ben Cutting also returned to the pavilion after scoring 12 runs.

Imad Wasim fought till the last ball. Kings needed 22 runs off the last over. Abbas Afridi started the last over with a no-ball, on which Amadoseem hit a six and scored 7 runs. Amadoseem took a single on the first ball. The next ball was wide, after which Ben Kattan hit a six on the second ball, after which Abbas Afridi forgot his line. And then bowled a wide ball. Ben Cutting could not play the third ball and was caught out on the fourth ball.

Irfan Khan took a single on the fifth ball, after which 5 runs were required on the last ball, but Imad Wasim failed to hit a six and could only take a single. Thus, Karachi Kings could not achieve the target even after reaching the target and lost the match despite scoring 18 runs in the last over. Imad remained not out after scoring 46 runs off 26 balls with the help of 5 sixes.

On behalf of Multan, Abbas Afridi dismissed 2 players, and Usama Mir and Khushdil Shah dismissed one player each. Multan Sultans captain Muhammad Rizwan was declared the man of the match.

It should be noted that Multan Sultans are the top team of this season, they have played 5 matches and lost only one. Karachi Kings also played 5 matches out of which they faced defeat in 4.
