ICC Confirms Cricket Inclusion in Olympic Games
The cricket berth in the Olympics will break the jinx of 128-years-absence of the game from the quadrennial sporting extravaganza
International Cricket Council (ICC) shared glad tidings for cricket lovers and announced that it will be bidding for cricket’s inclusion in the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028.
In this regard, ICC has convened a working group to lead the bid and to focus on the inclusion of cricket in the event.
ICC can confirm its intention to push for cricket’s inclusion in the @Olympics, with the 2028 Games in Los Angeles being the primary target.

Earlier, in 1900, cricket made its appearance in the Paris Olympics but only two teams, Britain and the host France competed at the event.

ICC Chair Greg Barclay told the media, “We believe cricket would be a great addition to the Olympic Games, but we know it won’t be easy to secure our inclusion as there are so many other great sports out there wanting to do the same. But we feel now is the time to put our best foot forward and show what a great partnership cricket and the Olympics are”.
The ICC Olympic Working Group will be chaired by England and Wales Cricket Board Chairman Ian Watmore, ICC Independent Director Indra Nooyi, Chair of Zimbabwe Cricket Tavengwa Mukuhlani, ICC Associate Member Director, Vice President of the Asian Cricket Council Mahinda Vallipuram, and Chair of USA Cricket Parag Marathe.
