Karachi Kings get PSL 7’s first win after defeating Lahore Qalandars

Babar Azam-led Karachi Kings (KK) beat Lahore Qalandars (LQ) in their ninth round match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 7.

Babar Azam-led Karachi Kings (KK) have finally broken the curse of back-to-back defeats in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 7 after beating Lahore Qalandars (LQ) in their ninth round match played at Gaddafi Stadium on Friday.

The match between arch-rivals was full of surprises as Karachi Kings managed to score a low total of 149 which they successfully defended on the bowling front thanks to Mir Humza’s four-wicket haul.

Speculations of another defeat of Karachi Kings had started due to a conservative total of 149 runs against Lahore Qalandars after watching Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators’ match at the same ground in which Mohammad Rizwan-eleven scored a huge total of 245 and outclassed Gladiators by 117 runs.

Three reasons of Karachi Kings’ back-to-back defeats in PSL 7

However, KK came up with a plan this time after they chose to bat first after winning the toss yesterday.

On the batting front, Babar Azam topped the scorers’ list with 39 runs off 32 followed by Lewis Gregory 27 off 16 and Qasim Akram’s 26 off 18.

LQ bowlers Zaman Khan and Rashid Khan gave a big dent to the KK batting line by sharing four wickets each.

The LQ opening batsmen were ousted quickly by Mir Hamza who later claimed two crucial wickets of established batsmen including Harry Brook and David Wiese. Mohammad Hafeez scored 33 off 24 to become the top scorer from his side.

Qalandars were successfully restricted to 127 of 9 wickets by KK.
