KK have run out of title race for PSL 7 after facing seventh consecutive defeat against IU during the match played at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.

Karachi Kings (KK) have run out of the title race for Pakistan Super League (PSL) 7 after facing the seventh consecutive defeat against Islamabad United (IU) during the match played at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.

Babar Azam-led Karachi Kings failed to chase the 192-run target given by Islamabad United in the second phase of the PSL 2022 tournament.

IU scored 191 runs at the loss of seven wickets in the short format match. KK’s opening batters Babar Azam and Sharjeel Khan initiated the innings but the skipper went back to the pavilion after scoring just 13 runs off 9 balls, whereas, Sahibzada Farhan managed to score only 17 runs off 21 balls.

Sharjeel Khan scored 44 runs off 29 balls while Muhammad Nabi scored only 3 runs. Imad Wasim and Qasim Akram played a responsible innings and lifted the total score to 188 closer to the victory.

KK’s lost three consecutive wickets of Imad Wasim, Jordan Thomson and Chris Jordan in the last over when they needed just 8 runs to win the match.

Muhammad Waqas emerged as the most successful bowler of IU who ousted three players off 34 runs, whereas, Asif Ali sent off two players. Liam Dawson and Zeeshan Zameer took one wicket each.

Shadab Khan was the top scorer who scored 34 runs off 26 balls. Asif Ali and Fahim Ashraf scored quick 28 and 29 runs respectively.
