KP to Have Its First Hockey League This Month

Pakistan Hockey Federation has decided to hold 8-team hockey tournament with competitions in 7 districts of KP

In a brilliantly taken step towards the resurrection of Pakistan’s national game, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Director General (DG) and Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) have announced to hold a hockey league in the province.

The step is been taken to promote the national game in the province.

PHF has decided to hold 8-team hockey tournament with competitions in 7 districts of KP.

KP Sports, Culture and Tourism Secretary Abid Majeed expressed that the event will give exposure to the local talent.

He also informed that 2 players each from international and national junior teams will be included while the rest of the team will comprise local players.

The event-winning team will get Rs 1 million while Rs 500,000 are announced for the runner-up.

Abid Majeed further announced that the league will be kicked off this month as the preparations are all done.
