Lack of facilities: Weightlifter Talha Talib continues training in classroom

Pakistan’s talented weightlifter Talha Talib, who had remained fifth in the 67kg category at Tokyo Olympics last year, found no better option other than a classroom to continue his training to get prepared for the next competition.

Due to lack of facilities, Pakistan’s premier weightlifter Talha Talib was forced to continue his training for the next competition in a classroom as there was no indoor training hall for him.

Talha Talib has shared a video on Twitter, showing the dedication and passion of a sportsman besides exposing the lack of facilities to the talented youth who are working hard to make Pakistanis proud in international events.

The Gujranwala-born Talha Talib, 22, had remained fifth in the 67kg category after lifting lifted 320kg which was just two kilograms less than the weight lifted by bronze medallist Mirko Zanni of Italy.’

Talha’s lift of 151kg in the snatch category was the second-best of the round.

The weightlifter had won the country’s first-ever medal at the World Weightlifting Championship in Tashkent last year by winning a Bronze at the snatch event in the 67kg category despite the injury.

Talib is now eyeing to qualify for the Commonwealth Games, whereas, he is also set to feature in the Singapore Weightlifting International to be held from February 25-27.

Singapore Weightlifting International event will also serve as qualifiers for the Commonwealth Games slated to be held in Birmingham from July 28 to August 8.
