New Zealand Cricket Team to Land in Pakistan After 18 Yrs

The team will visit Pakistan in September since 2003 and the first ODI will enthrall the enthusiasts in Rawalpindi on September 17

New Zealand cricket team will be visiting Pakistan for the first time after 18 years and will play 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is, confirmed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

As per news release by PCB, the team will visit Pakistan in September after 2003 and the first ODI will enthrall the enthusiasts in Rawalpindi on September 17 followed by the games on September 19 and 21 at the same venue.

The news came up as a surprise for the sports enthusiasts amid the depressing covid-19 pandemic and seems an outcome of better law and order situation in the country.

PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan shared his views, “Series against a top-ranked side like New Zealand will be a perfect start to a mouth-watering and highly-exciting home season of red and white-ball cricket. The 2019 World Cup finalists, who are also the World Test champions and ranked third in T20Is, will draw tremendous attraction and interest from the local fans, and will reinforce Pakistan’s status as a safe and secure country”.

On the other hand, New Zealand Cricket Chief Executive David White expressed that the team has been very much looking forward to return to Pakistan.

“It’s great that, after such a difficult time for Pakistan, international cricket is again being played in the country”, he said.
