Overview of Qalandars, Kings and Zalmi in PSL 6
Qalandars to aim to grab the title this time, Kings will crusade for defending it while Zalmi has the challenge to prove mettle again
As the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 6 will kick-off today in Karachi, here is part two of a brief overview of three remaining teams that would be contesting to win the title.
Overview of Remaining Three Teams in PSL 6
Lahore Qalandars
The team resurrected in the last season of PSL and reached the final after getting knocked out in the initial stages in the previous ones.
The team under Sohail Akhtar is looking to catch up on its unfulfilled dream of lifting the trophy this year.
Strengths
A power-packed bowling attack with Haris Rauf, Rashid Khan, and Shaheen Afridi.
Captain Sohail Akhtar has topped in Abu Dhabi T10 with 248 runs at a strike rate of 187.87
The presence of Professor Muhammad Hafeez in the batting line-up who can open, bat in the middle order, and even converts into a power-hitter towards the end of the inning.
Weaknesses
Early leave of Rashid Khan after playing two games with Lahore Qalandars to represent Afghanistan against Zimbabwe in the Test series.
The out-of-form Fakhar Zaman who the Qalandars would be looking to charge from the very first ball.
Karachi Kings
The defending champions with heavyweights Babar Azam, Colin Ingram, and Mohammad Amir in the team certainly make Karachi Kings a favorite to clinch the title again.
Strengths
The blazing top order of the team including Sharjeel Khan, Ingram, and Babar Azam.
Weaknesses
The team’s excessive reliance on Mohammad Amir in the absence of any prominent pacers.
The depth in the batting line-up is missing and Kings would be dependant on Mohammad Nabi and captain Imad Wasim for power-hitting.
Peshawar Zalmi
The team has lost Hasan Ali this season who has made an impressive comeback in the national side.
Zalmi is the only team besides Karachi Kings that has played playoffs in every PSL season.
