Pakistan Batting Order Fails In New Zealand, Thrashing Hopes

Fans expect that their hopes of winning the test series in New Zealand after almost a decade would be washed away

Same story and different foreign venues, Pakistan team fulfilled the expectations of the cricket fans as its batting order yet again displayed poor performance in the first test against New Zealand.

The story is no more different than previously for the Pakistani team that its fans witness on each foreign tour where the visiting batsmen struggle to hand pace, swing, and bounce which is unlikely on the pitches back home.

In the first inning of the test match against the Blackcaps, the Pakistan team collapsed on 239 while on the same pitch and under the same conditions, the host made 431 with Captain Kane Williamson scoring a 100 and Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls, and BJ Watling scoring 50s.

In response, the top order of Pakistan failed and it was only due to the resistance of Muhammad Rizwan and Faheem Ashraf that the visitors managed to put 239 on the board and avoided a follow-on.

The poor performance of the Pakistani batting line-up is a recurring occurrence, especially when playing in Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand.

Pakistan cricket team had a jinx attached in New Zealand as three key players including Captain Babar Azam, Vice-Captain Shadab Khan, and opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq have been injured.

The non-recovery of Babar Azam and the opener Imam-ul-Haq before the start of the test series proved to be hurting for the batting order of Pakistan as it was already in dire straits before commencing red-ball cricket in New Zealand.
