Pakistan clinches important Squash title
In a thrilling final at the Under-23 World Squash Championship held in Karachi, Pakistan’s Noor Zaman emerged victorious by defeating Egypt’s Karim Al Tur, with a 2-3 scoreline. This win secured Pakistan’s title at the prestigious event.
The final, which was played over five sets, started with Egypt’s Karim Al Tur taking an early 2-0 lead by winning the first two games. However, Pakistan’s Noor Zaman made a remarkable comeback, winning the next three sets to clinch the championship.
Speaking after his victory, Noor Zaman reflected on his mindset during the match, saying, “After being down 0-2, I decided to focus on my game and keep fighting until the very end. I remained determined, and it paid off.”
Earlier in the semi-finals, Noor Zaman had put on an impressive performance against Malaysia’s Chandaran. Noor Zaman won the first two games with ease, 6-11 and 2-11, while leading 4-6 in the third game before Chandaran had to retire from the match due to injury.
In the other semi-final, Egypt’s Karim Al Tur triumphed over his compatriot Ibrahim Al-Kabani, winning 1-3, securing his spot in the final.
Noor Zaman’s incredible comeback and overall performance in the tournament were hailed as a testament to his resilience and skill, making his victory a proud moment for Pakistan in the world of squash.
