Pakistan to Host First International Scrabble Championship
Some 96 players from 16 different countries situated on five continents will participate in the championship

Pakistan is all set to host the first international youth scrabble championship which will be played online. The event will start on January 22.
Pakistan has been chosen to host the league by World English-language Scrabble Players Association (WESPA), the global regulatory body for scrabble.
The event has been organized virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic situation.
Some 96 players from 16 different countries situated on five continents will participate in the championship.
Since the championship aims to bring young players to the international arena, all participating players will be aged below 18.
The league will be played on a team format with each team comprising six players.
The inaugural scrabble championship will be sponsored by Quetta Gladiators and Pharmevo.

To ensure transparency, all games will remain under strict surveillance by the technical teams through webcams.
Some selected matches will be live-streamed too.
The English commentary of the matches will be done by Will Anderson and Jesse Day while Waseem Khatri and Daniyal Sanaullah will be Urdu commentators for the event.
The Pakistan team to participate in the event will be announced at the end of the qualifying tournament on January 17. The team of Pakistan in the scrabble championship will be among the favorites to win.
