Pakistan to take on India in high-voltage Asia Cup match today

Pakistan took on India 13 times in the Asia Cup in which India defeated Pakistan seven times while Green Caps became victorious in five matches.

In the Asia Cup, traditional rivals Pakistan and India will come face-to-face at Dubai cricket stadium today. The match between Pakistan will be played at 7:00 pm.

The Asia Cup T20 tournament is continued in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in which six teams including Pakistan are participating. Pakistan will play its first match with traditional rivals India today.

The Green Caps will be led by Babar Azam while Indian team will be captained by Rohit Sharma. Babar Azam is the number one batsman in the T20 rankings while the record was earlier held by Virat Kohli.

The Pakistani skipper is the highest scorer in ODI format. Babar has scored 7,623 runs since 2018, while former Indian captain Virat Kohli scored 7,472 runs.

Pakistani skipper captain Babar Azam overtook Virat Kohli after completing a 1,000 runs in the lowest 13 innings before the record was possessed by Virat Kohli.

Wasim Akram gave his opinion regarding the Pakistan-India match that Azam is a great player but it will be premature to compare him with Virat Kohli.

Talking to Indian media, Akram said that Azam’s performance is consistent and he is also a fit while Virat Kohli is a major player of not only this era but also a major player of every era.

Akram jokingly said that it is hoped that Indian batter Virat Kohli will not come to the form against Pakistan but then he will come to the form.

The national team’s batting coach Mohammad Yousuf said that our first aim is to win the Asia Cup and our focus is on it. Our preparations are for the entire tournament, our focus is not just on the Pakistan-India match.

Pakistan has been hit by a blow after an injury to Shaheen Shah Afridi before the Asia Cup, but Mohammad Hassanin, who is replaced by the team, is ready to prove himself now.

The national team was shocked yesterday when young pacer  Mohammad Wasim was ruled out of the Asia Cup due to a side strain. He was replaced by Hasan Ali.

According to reports, Mohammad Wasim had a complaint of back pain which was made MRI, but it was decided to drop him from the squad if the report was not satisfactory.

The Pakistani team squad includes Babar Azam (captain), Shadab Khan (vice-captain), Asif Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Haider Ali, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Khushdal Shah, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan, Hasan Ali, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Hasnain, Shahnawaz Dahani and Usman Qadir.

The Asia Cup is now restricted to the T20 format which was previously played in ODI format.

In the Asia Cup 1984, India defeated Pakistan by 54 runs while in 1988, India defeated Shaheen by four wickets. Pakistan defeated India by 97 runs in the Asia Cup 1995.

1997 Asia Cup: The match was cancelled due to rain, while in 2000, Pakistan defeated India by 44 runs and 59 runs in 2004. Pakistan suffered a defeat to India in the 2008 group match.

Pakistan defeated India by 8 wickets in the Super Four stage of 2008 and in 2010, India won against Pakistan. In 2012, India defeated Pakistan and in 2014 Pakistan defeated India.

India was victorious in the Asia Cup 2016, while in 2018, India also managed to defeat Pakistan. India won the Asia Cup title seven times while Pakistan has won the Asia Cup only 2 times.
