PCB & Media Come at Sword’s Point Right Before PSL

PCB Media at sword's point

With only a day left in the recommencement of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 6, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and media have come at sword’s point following remarks by PCB CEO Wasim Khan for sports journalists.

PCB Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Wasim Khan had discredited Pakistani sports journalists who were critical of his dual nationality and labeled Pakistani journalism as a circus.

The comments provoked ire among sports journalists and they want the CEO to step down.

The senior one in the field including Abdul Majid Bhatti, Syed Yahya Hussaini, and others as well as Pakistan Sports Writers Federation (PSWF) condemned Wasim Khan’s remarks.

Veteran sports journalist Abdul Majid Bhatti called on the sacking of PCB CEO, citing that he has crossed all limits.

Through a tweet, the journalist recalled the time when PCB CEO was warmly welcomed at Karachi Press Club when he had assumed the charge and said that the same person was using defamatory and inappropriate language for the journalists.

He called for an unconditional apology from Wasim Khan over remarks and his sacking.

Sensing danger, PCB CEO issued an official statement and admitted using inappropriate words.

It is yet to be seen whether the apology tendered by PCB high-up would thaw his relations with media but the analysts do not see it as a good omen for PSL which is all set to restart on June 9.
