The UEFA Euro journey of Portugal came to an end at the hands of Belgium that defeated the defending champion in the round of 16.

The defending champions could not recover from the first-half strike by the Belgian striker Thorgan Hazard.

Although Portugal hit more shots in the game than Belgium but none of them could find the net, eventually leading to the ouster of the title defenders from Euro 2020.

Another record was bagged by the lone-scorer in the game, Hazard, who became the first player for his side to send the ball to the nets in two back-to-back Euro appearances.
The crunch game was the first of nine games in which Portugal’s score-board didn’t move.
