Multan Sultan’s 27-year-old opener Waseem Muhammad, who will likely make his PSL debut in Abu Dhabi, has come a long way from serving as a salesman to becoming a star.
Waseem won millions of hearts with his batting in the T10 cricket league in UAE, and now he is going to be a representor in the remaining matches of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 6 scheduled in Abu Dhabi.
Waseem recalled that he had gone through many sacrifices just to become eligible for selection in UAE and he has not visited his family in Pakistan for almost three years now.
He recalled, “I came here on a visit visa in 2016 and then returned to Pakistan. I came back next year, but playing cricket was not exactly my dream as I was looking for a job”.
However, his cricket resume comprised of only district-level matches played in Pakistan and he didn’t expect to present local team in UAE.

He added, “But that was about it. Getting into big-time cricket was a dream I could not afford because my job as a sales executive demanded a lot from me. Still, I managed to play some local UAE club matches in the night after long office hours in the day”.
So far, Mohammad had scored 212 runs in 9 matches with an amazing strike rate of 225.53, which helped the Northern Warriors to become the first team in winning two T-10 titles.
And now the 27-year-old opener is going to share the cricket field in the PSL 6 with some big names including Babar Azam, Mohammad Hafeez, Martin Guptill, Rashid Khan, Andre Russell, and Faf du Plessis.
“It’s a big moment in my life as a cricketer. I had never thought to be honest that I would get to play in premier events like the Abu Dhabi T10 and the PSL,” he said.
