The renowned Nepali mountaineer, mountain guide and tour operator Mingma Gyalje is in Pakistan to lead a team comprising three members for Winter K2 Expedition 2021.
The height of K2 is 8,611 meters and it is the second highest mountain in the world. Nepali climbers will start their expedition next year in 2021.
On his arrival in Pakistan, Nepali mountaineer Mingma met Karar Haideri, Secretary of the Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP), a mountaineering organization, for formal expedition briefing.
During the briefing given to the Nepali climbers, it was stressed that strict measures during winter expedition should be taken to protect the environment on Baltoro Glacier.

Talking to News 360, Alpine Club Secretary, Karar Haideri said that in future 25 different teams are visiting Pakistan for the campaign to head K2 in winters.
“12 teams will be visiting from Nepal while others will join from European countries”, he added.
K2 is the second highest peak in the world and it is a huge challenge to climb the mountain in winter season.
Earlier, a number of accidents occurred on the Baltoro track due to severe blizzards on the snow-covered mountain.
