Prime Minister Imran Khan is willing to make tourism the mainstay of the economy of Pakistan but the future could be bleak and take a heavy toll on the thriving industry after New Zealand (NZ) incident.
Despite strict security measures, the NZ cricket team called off its tour and left Pakistan without playing a game.
The decision did not just incur damage to Pakistan’s cricket but it can also do so to its thriving tourism industry.
After the clean-up operations in border areas with Afghanistan and improved security conditions, international tourists have started returning to Pakistan.

The popular vloggers on YouTube like Indigo Traveller, Alexander White, Drew Binsky, Peter Santenello, and others visited Pakistan and showed its natural beauty and vibrant culture to their followers around the world.
Their videos created an impact in washing off the stains Pakistan had received during the US-Afghan war and people willing to travel the world have added the country to their bucket lists.
The PTI-led government have looked keen to revive the sector in the country as it is rehabilitating historic sites, establishing new recreational spots, and encouraging and incentivizing investment.
However, if not handled properly, the NZ episode citing security issues can put Pakistan in a cleft stick again.
The people have emphasized that Prime Minister Imran Khan should take immediate diplomatic measures to ensure the global community that Pakistan is safe for tourism.
They said that otherwise, the security issue will once again take a heavy toll on tourism and Pakistan will miss the potential revenue and employment it can generate from the flourishing sector.
