Safe demolition of Nasla Tower becomes serious challenge for Sindh govt

Commissioner receives no response to ads put in newspapers for demolition contractor

The safe demolition of 15-storey Nasla Tower as per the Supreme Court orders has becomes a serious challenge for the local authorities.

Two days ago, the commissioner had put an ad (Expression of Interest) in the local newspapers to find a demolition contractor for a safe dismantling of the tower but received no response so far. On the other hand, the tower is still not fully vacated as 30 per cent of the residents are still present in the building.

The commissioner has to submit a compliance report after the safe demolition of Nasla Tower to the Supreme Court on Nov 1.

However, keeping in the view prevailing situation, it seems difficult for the commissioner to submit the report within the stipulated time.
