Atiq Mir Opposes Complete Shut of Economy

All Karachi Tajir Ittehad (AKTI) Chairman Atiq Mir decried the sufferings of the business community due to lockdown and opposed complete shut of economy.

In an exclusive interview with News360, he said that thousands of traders had to close their rental shops and they have not been able to return to them.

He added that several businessmen were still indebted. Atiq Mir opposed the idea of complete lockdown and termed it dangerous.

He told News360 that multiple sectors would come in trouble after Eid-ul-Fitr if the businesses are not allowed to open.

The traders’ official said that the situation would leave hundreds of daily-wage workers unemployed while the crime rate would escalate too.

He demanded the government to give businessmen the chance to sell goods already prepared for Eid-ul-Fitr.

Further, Consumer Protection Association (CPA) Chairman Kokab Iqbal told News360 criticized the attitude of the masses who opted for Eid shopping despite the pandemic.

The traders are also awaiting to sell goods on which they had invested millions of rupees.

He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan introduced a ‘smart lockdown’ which saved economic activities from a complete halt.
