Umerkot Has a Taj Mahal Built in The Memory of Wife

Taj Mahal Umerkot

A man in Dhoronaro city of Sindh’s Umerkot district built a replica of the historic Taj Mahal in the loving memory of his late wife.

An ivory white-marbled mausoleum on the southern bank of Yamuna River in India was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the loving memory of his wife Mumtaz.

Umerkot’s Abdul Rasool immortalized the memory of his beloved wife Maryam after her death in 2015 by erecting a similar structure in Umerkot as of Shah Jahan’s Taj Mahal in India.

To pay tribute to his wife, Abdul Rasool traveled to India to assimilate the original design and the magnificent structure was constructed by the local laborers.

The locals of the area expressed that the love shown by Rasool for his wife is exemplary and praiseworthy.

Writer Arbab Mohammad told the cemetery where the replica is built is historic as many intellectuals were buried there too. “It has been an interesting fact that both Taj Mahals were built for sake of love”, he said.

Senior journalist and columnist Sardar Bhaiyo said that it is a pride for them to have a replicated Taj Mahal. He added that the culture department must take the responsibility for protecting the white marbled structure.
