Mangoes From Farms of Mirpur Khas Are Short of Supply

Mirpur Khas, known for its mango cultivation with hundreds of varieties of the fruit, has seen a decline in production this year and the world-famous varieties of mangoes from the city are short of supply in the market.

The production has been diminishing for the last ten years due to the damage caused by floods and negligence of the Sindh government.

Notably, Mirpur Khas is famous for varieties of mangoes including Sindhri, which was introduced by the father of former Prime Minister Muhammad Junejo.

Sindh Abadgar’s leader Javed Junejo informed News360 that Sindh government is not facilitating the farmers and rapid floods are causing damage.

The fruit exporter Abdul Ghaffar also backed the complaint and asserted that the provincial is acting negligently towards the mango farms.

“The government took funds for the cold storage and there is no trace of it now”, he added.
